01. Who are you ?
Mike Cottone, a husband, dad, designer and part-time musician from Michigan.
02. What are you listening actually ?
So much! Changes day to day, but currently Will Ackerman, Jeff Parker, The Humble Bee, Billow Observatory and Cocteau Twins to name a few.
3. How you came to music ?
Probably first through my dad’s record collection as a kid. I started playing guitar at 12 and gradually branched out from there.
4. What gear do you use in studio/live ?
As far as guitars go, most of the time I’m recording with my trusty ’94 American Standard Strat or the Squier J Mascis, though I have a few others I use as well. Acoustic is typically the Ibanez AE315 acoustic/electric. There are always a lot of effects in the chain that I swap in and out, but the Neunaber Neuron and Immerse 2, Strymon Big Sky, DL4 Mk2 are the core of my setup. The Hologram Microcosm and Chase Bliss Habit have been getting a lot of use as well as of late, along with a vintage Ibanez SC10 Super Stereo Chorus. As far as synths go, I have a Behringer Model D and a Yamaha Reface CS, but I use the Arturia V Collection soft synths a lot of the time. The Valhalla Delay, VintageVerb and Supermassive plugins are also all over my stuff.
5. Do you have an anecdote or a memory to tell us about your music ?
In general, getting to know and work with artists I respect and listen to and has been amazing, surreal really…
6. Which artist would you dream of working with?
Oh wow, too many to list, Robin Guthrie maybe?
7. What are your plans for the future?
Just to keep creating, I’ve got a bunch of new music coming. I’d also like to self-release more work in the future.
